Assistant Accountant

Are you part-qualified but looking to get some real hands-on experience in a multidisciplinary accounting practice? We’re seeking a skilled, part-qualified Assistant Accountant at our Leeds office.

Role Details

Criteria

Proficient in the use of Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Dext, Outlook and Excel.
Must have knowledge of double entry, VAT and UK tax laws.
Must have good communication skills to deal with clients and be a team player.
Must be able to work independently – there is support available from Accountants and Client Manager.
Be confident to speak with clients in person or virtually.

Experience

Min 1 years’ experience in the same/similar role.
Previous experience within a UK accountancy practice is preferred.

Qualification status

Qualified by experience (QBE)
AAT part of fully qualified
Bookkeeping qualification

Main duties will include:

Manage and interact with your own portfolio of clients to ensure monthly bookkeeping is done to high standards.
General daily bookkeeping tasks ie., maintaining a detailed sales ledger, preparing supplier payment runs, bank/credit card reconciliation.
Ensuring items are processed correctly into the client’s books.
Monthly/quarterly management reports preparation and preparing VAT returns.
Responding and actioning emails in a timely and efficient manner.
Supporting clients in their journey to making tax digital.
Supporting practice and senior accountants with year-end accounts and tax return preparation for sole traders, partnerships, LLP and Limited companies.
